이 곡이 세상에 나온 1980년대의 암울한 정치적 상황 속에서, "편지지가 없어 못 쓸 말이란 없다"라는 노랫말이 시대 배경과 맞닿아 있다고 생각했습니다. 어떠한 제약 속에서도 메세지는 전달되어야 한다는 의미를 담아 비디오테이프, 라디오 등 당시의 일상적 소품을 매개로 편지지가 아니어도 메세지(가사)를 전달받을 수 있는 가상의 공간을 구축했습니다. 곡의 다채로운 변주를 시각화하기 위해 가사의 느낌에 맞춰 세 가지 타입의 레터링을 제작하고, 이를 비디오테이프 케이스에 덧입혀 과거의 유물을 현대적인 그래픽 언어로 재해석했습니다.
This project reinterprets the song within the context of the politically grim 1980s, inspired by the lyric: "There is no message that cannot be written just because there is no stationery." To symbolize how messages must persist regardless of constraints, I constructed a virtual space where lyrics are transmitted through everyday objects of that era, such as video tapes and radios. To visualize the song’s diverse musical variations, I developed three distinct lettering styles tailored to the mood of the lyrics. By applying these to video tape case layouts, I reinterpreted nostalgic artifacts into a contemporary graphic language.
