이 프로젝트는 〈아크릴을 끼워 만든 형태〉의 연장선에서 이루어진 실험으로, 이전 작업에서 도출된 조형적 단서를 바탕으로 하되 의도적으로 기능과 의미를 제거한 덩어리를 구성하는 데 집중했습니다. 앞선 작업이 의자라는 사물의 기능을 단서 삼아 구조를 설계했다면, 이번에는 기능 없음 자체를 조건으로 삼았습니다. 어느 방향에서도 기댈 수 없도록 설계하고, 보는 시점에 따라 형태가 다르게 읽히도록 구성했습니다.
완성된 구조물은 조각이나 오브제처럼 보이지만, 특별히 실용성을 목적으로 두지 않습니다. 조형 언어로 읽힐 수도 목재 덩어리로 보일 수도 있도록 해석의 여지를 열어두었기 때문입니다. 명확한 정보 전달을 우선하는 그래픽 디자인의 관습적인 전제에서 벗어나 의미 없는 조각들을 반복적으로 조립하고 관찰하는 과정 그 자체를 출발점으로 삼았습니다. 이는 이전 작업의 단서로부터 새로운 형태를 탐구해 온 연구의 마지막 시리즈입니다.

As an extension of Forms Built by Interlocking Acrylic, this project focuses on composing masses while intentionally stripping away function and meaning, utilizing formal clues from previous works. While the preceding work used the functional cues of a 'chair' as a structural basis, this project adopts 'non-functionality' itself as a primary condition. The structures are designed to provide no support from any direction, ensuring that their forms are perceived differently from every viewing angle.
The resulting structures may appear as sculptures or objects, yet they do not aim for specific practical utility. This intentional ambiguity allows them to be read as a formal language or simply as an assembly of wooden elements, leaving the interpretation entirely open. Moving away from the conventional premise of graphic design—which prioritizes clear information delivery—this work explores the repetitive assembly and observation of meaningless fragments as a starting point. This marks the final series of research, exploring new forms initiated from the clues of previous endeavors.
